...Were animated in a 2-d fighting game?

Yeah, obviously I was inspired by that recent pixel-ID thing, but this is a bit more specific. Writers and artists can participate, and hey, if you have more than one character, why stop?

Basically, detail, describe or draw, storyboard-style, your fursona, character, whatever in how they pose, move, speak, attack, taunt, block, etc. if in a fighting game. Even win quotes, backgrounds, themes, alternate color schemes, whatever. If you wanna, just go for it!

I myself am gonna use Guilty Gear XX as my 'foundation', so to speak. Watch out for a journal edit with an example with my very own Naota.

C'mon, let's rock!

Ex. Naota Minomura

Apperance: 5'4" Red fox zulian, skinny as a rail. Wears a large black coat with gold cuffs and insides over a too-big green sweater with "Santi-U" written in stylized blue font, and long, beige pants with sandals. Also wears a straw hat with the word "Meme" in marker on the front. Black, bristly headfur and green eyes. 26 years old.

Has a power that turns his left arm and right leg white, and his right arm and left leg black, and gain the ability to strecth and be shaped in any way he can think of.

Beginning pose 1: Fans self with hat, looking indifferent. "Well well, don't we look tough."

Bp 2: Lying on the floor with his head in his hand, extremely bored. yawns "Geez, someone else now?" Gets up, fight starts.

Bp 3: Stands upright, talking on a red cell phone. "Yeah, I know. I'll....now hold on....gotcha." Hangs up looking annoyed, turns to opponent and mumbles sarcastically. "Just great."

Standing pose: Faces opponent with hands in both pockets, kicking the ground absentmindedly. If left idle, winds up his back arm.

Forward: Walks slowly and cautiosly, rubbing his shoulder as if he has an ache.

Backward: Slides away sheepishly, clucthing his hat to his head.

Block: Holds both arms up and creates a shield that looks like a huge white and black kitsune mask. "Lay off!"

Mezzo Pitch: Winds one arm and punches, causing it to strecth and strike the opponent from long-range.

Mezzo Catapult: Grabs opponent with both arms. The arms contort into a spring shape and pull him into the enemy's body, feet first.

Mezzo Mayu: Grabs opponent. His arms and legs take a liquid shape and completely envelop them, letting Naota go while the "cocoon" hardens and contracts, crushing them.

Mezzo Viking: Throws a leg in the air, where it strecthes out and crashes down in the shape of an axe or, as the name implies, the bow of those huge, rocking carnival ships. "Chew on this!"

Mezzo Kujaku: Positions self in a handstand and spins with legs out, breakdancing-style, legs strecthing out and repeatedly battering the enemy.
If missed or blocked, he gets up extremely dizzy, pulling his hat down over his eyes while mumbling incoherently.

Mezzo Nagareboshi: Throws a volley of punches, essentially a bunch of pitches, except the punches take liquid form and snap off with each jab, basiccaly launching tons of artificial fists at them. Naota is left winded afterwards and stumbles over, clucthing his chest. "I'm too old for this."

Recovery: "You've gotta be kidding me."

Instant kill-Mezzo Starship: Takes a deep breath and rushes haphazardly at the enemy. If succesful, he appears to beat them into submission, but is actually covering them with globs of "ChiaroScuro" (the black and white stuff) until they're completely incased in a rocket-like coffin of the stuff. Exhausted, Naota slumps onto his ass, lights a cigarette and tosses the lighter at the rocket's base, somehow igniting it and launching it offscreen. Naota takes a puff and waves. "Bon Voyage!"
Destroyed

Win pose 1: Fans self with hat and sighs, muttering "Finally."

Wp 2: His knees buckle and he collapses, panting raggedly. "Son-of-a-bitch."

Wp 3: Streches his back out with his hands on his sides. Brings his arms down and falls backwards, his Chiaroscuro melding and forming a rocking chair. Brings his hat over his face and mutters "And stay down" before quickly nodding off.

Win quotes: (These will make much more sense with subsquent meme examples and Baroque Symphony chapters. ;p )

Naota vs. Naota: "Seriously, why impersonate me? I'm not your average 'excessively handsome yet hurt inside' fursona, ya know."

Naota vs. Natsumi: "Jesus H. Christ, you nearly cut me to shreds. Well, I won the bet, so I'm off clean-up detail, right?"

Naota vs. Dante: "You can't put all that pent-up energy to better use? Go easy next time, big guy."

Naota vs. Vergil: "pants heavily* Can we stop now?"

Naota vs. Momo: "Goddamn, you're annoying. If we're going to spar, do it normally. And give my hat back!"

Naota vs. K.P.: "....Dude, don't touch me. Seriously."

Naota vs. Baitang: "What's with the trigger finger? We're on the same side, ya know."

Naota vs. Yoshi: "Geez, you're shaking everywhere. I didn't hurt you that bad, did I?"

Naota vs. Robin: "You're so much more trouble than you're worth it's not even funny. Get outta my sight."

Naota vs Bangaio: "You've seriously gotta settle down. If you burn this hat, your ass is grass. Got that?"

Naota vs. Kazaki: ".......Your japanese is way off."

Naota vs. Mitsuki: "Were you really trying to run me over? I thought for sure I was gonna die."

There's the basic idea, though it can vary if you want to. If it sounds like fun, give it a shot, let your character's personality shine through, and spread the word.

Sigh, Just had a tiring but pleasant Labor Day weekend. Went to my sister's place in North Carolina, where I found out she'll be moving yet again late November for her husbands' new job. I say "yet again" because she's only had this new house for close to two years. Oh well, new scenery this Christmas.

Got to see my little nephew, Brandon, and niece, Logan, whom I affectionately call "Halo" (Hey, Lo). Brandon loves to wrestle every time he sees me, and I have to keep my ds and psp away from 'im 'cause that's all he'll want to do for the rest of the day. Crazy kid.

Halo's adorable, six months old now, and has a tendancy to put everything she can get her hands on in her mouth, which worries her mother to no end. lol

Got there on Saturday, mingled with family, then went to a water park with Brandon and my brother-in-law, Doug. Typically, the lines were ridiculous, the park insanely crowded, and the heat sweltering, but once we finally got in the pool and rides, it was quite fun(And I usually detest water parks. Digusting places.) The highlight was a ride called "The Edge", a 25-ft. halfpipe where you ride a large innertube down and back up the adjacent slope before you finally slide to a stop at the bottom. It wreaked havoc with my fear of heights, but damn if it wasn't wild.

After our return, we had a pleasant outdoor cook-out with family and friends. Good food, good times. A great weekend overall, and I hope you all had the same. X3

Unfortunately, this put my already tumultous writing schedule off track, and college isn't helping. But I'll try to upload something new soon. In the meantime, please bear with this lazy little fox.

Now then, as some of you may know, I primarily joined FA not for the art, but for the people, the joy of interacting with my fellow freak...er, furry.

Ironic then, or perhaps hypocritical, that I don't seem to really say or do much here, and with college starting up again in....two hours, that doesn't seem to be changing.

In any case, I do intend to be more active as far as posting my writings goes, and since I'm pursuing an English major, that should help me get back into my groove.

Strange, but I think I've finally found my Rason D'etre. I never really enjoyed writing until recently, and I only started because I found drawing excruciatingly boring to draw and this was my only way of expressing myself artistically. But thanks to a few good friends who've helped to encourage me through critique and well wishes, I've decided to pursue developing what little talent I have in this medium and hopefully eke out a future as a professional author. I'm still not particularly passionate about writing yet, but I'm going to work at it.

That sounds right.

Hey all!. My writer's workshop is almost over, but so far, it's been a hoot. Made a few cool friends at the workshop, and the teacher's have all been firm and constructive. Lots of fun.

In other news, today's my birthday! August 2nd, my big 19th. I don't feel too different right now, but surely with age comes responsibility. I just hope I can handle what life keeps on throwin' at me. :P

How about you guys? If you don't mind, when are your birthdays? And for that matter, how have you been doing lately?

Worst. E3. Ever.

I'm guessing all you gamers out there are aware of a little thing called the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, an event where the industry's big developers, including the Big 3(Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft), unveil their big projects that have been in the works and make (usually) ground-breaking announcements for the future of gaming.

Now, I say "usually" because a little while ago, it was announced that E3 would be more exclusive than ever, only allowing invited members of the press to enter, resulting in a much smaller, more concise show, in addition to a new location. Granted, in practice, this did result in a more informational atmosphere when the show was held this week, but it didn't feel as exciting as it did before. That sounds trivial and counter-productive, but seriously, the coverage on G4 and sites like Gamespot just didn't have the electric snap it had in years past, almost kind of boring. I honestly couldn't bring myself to pay much attantion.

If that were the only problem I wouldn't be writing this journal saying "Worst E3 ever", now would I? My big issue with this year's show is that there was close to NOTHING new annouced. At all. The only reason I give two shits about E3 is to see all the cool new surprises that we haven't seen before, sequel or not. Something to truly get excited for. But instead, we got NONE of that.

Starting with the tepid press anouncements. Microsoft didn't do anything but fluant their numbers and reiterate their holiday lineup every two seconds; a lineup which consisted entirely of games we've already known about for over a year now. Sony's wasn't much better, and I was extremely dissapointed with Nintendo. Really now, Wii Fit is cute and all, and you'd have to be a fucking moron to think that Mario Galaxy won't rock, but that's all they talked about for the entire show.

Which leads to my problem with it in general; 90% of the games on show have already been seen for well over a year in advance, namely, LAST E3.

And that was it. Snippets of info on games we've seen before, no big announcements, very little surprises, and in particular, a frustratingly shitty showing from Nintendo: One short video of Mario Kart, no new games, no Smash Bros., no nothing. Nintendo always has been and always will be my favorite developer, so to see them sit on their asses this year really gets under my skin.

Worst E3 ever? You bet your sweet ass. I've never been so bored watching the show in my life.
